Ok, my head hurts...here we go...
First thing I did was hook up the clock from the RME out, to the Apogee IN. Then I went to the digital I/O page on the D8B and set it up like this...
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p33/ ... /d8b_1.jpgThen I opened Cubase and I think I did what you said Casey...here's a picture of the cubase setup...for some reason it only turned on the first 16 in's and out's though...??? I don't know how to turn on the other 8 in's/out's.....
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p33/ ... cubase.jpgThe next picture is of the HDSP screen...it doesn't appear to have any inputs mapped???
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p33/ ... screen.jpgOk, now, I wanted to test the system, so I dropped a wav file into track 1 on Cubase and hit play, sure enough the track 1 level meter on the RME mixer started showing level! So, I figured I'd try track 2...so I copied the wave file on track one to track 2 and hit play...now both tracks are playing on Cubase, but still only the track 1 level meter on the RME mixer was showing level. Tried track 3 in cubase, same result. Now when I say track 1 in the RME mixer, I mean the BOTTOM LEFT level meter and the one directly above it. They both show level at the same time, and only those two. They are labeled "AT1 1" and "OUT 1"...I think somehting is definitely not setup right here...
So, I turned my attention to the D8B to see if anything was happening there...I hit the "Tape In" button and sure enough I was seeing level on track 25 (tape return 1)...but nothing on any other channels...this corresponded to what I was seeing on the RME Mixer. So, I decided to see what would happen if I changed the matrix...so I routed OUT 1 to AT1 2, and sure enough, the level meter on the D8B for channel 26 (tape return 2) jumped to life. I tried this with every channel for all 24 tape returns and they all worked perfectly. So this tells me that the only channel the RME is seeing is OUT 1 from cubase. But I can route that to whatever adat input to the D8B that I want.
Now, also, take notice that on the picture of the RME Mixer, the bottom row of meters are the adat outputs...all but the first two are greyed out...not sure if that means anything...
The last test I tried I plugged a mic into the D8B on channel 5, set my input level, and went to RME's mixer to see if I could see anything...nothing showed up...couldn't get an input on any channel...
Lots of reading I know...just trying to be accurate with what happened...as always, any advice is appreciated...!
