Well, I have felt your pain, much, much longer than one long night to be sure, but please don't give up. Are you using D8Bridge v1.1? What DAW are you using? What OS is on your host machine? Is your USB/Serial converter cable fully compatible with your OS (i.e., guaranteed to work)? Are you using the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version of D8Bridge (don't use the 64-bit version)? What's the sequence you're using to get D8Bridge, the d8b and your DAW going and to get the console mapped in your DAW? Which virtual MIDI port software are you using? Are you sure you have only one instance of the D8Bridge exe running (this can be a killer)? Are you sure you're using the config.d8b file you think you're using (this one might also surprise you)? How do you have the MIDI ports assigned in your virtual MIDI port software (yet another big deal)? How do you have the MIDI ports assigned in your DAW? There are lots of moving parts here...
System Error 43 may be irrelevant, by the way, for the purposes of running D8Bridge. Have you tried booting the d8b normally first to see if things operate as they should?
I learned a number of things the hard way but I also got some great help form the forum here. Give us some details and maybe we can help. Once D8Bridge is up and running and integrated with your DAW, you won't look back.
