Status : console ready. Waiting for MCU Init

Postby farmac » Wed Jan 30, 2013 7:06 am

Well , a night shot to shit. Loopmidi ports from hell.
We've tried every way we could think of to make this work and ...... Nothing. System error 43.

I consider the night a success because the D8b doesn't have any damage from a sledge hammer.

Can anyone show mercy on us and submit screen shots of what I'm supposed to have for a working connection.

Well, I have felt your pain, much, much longer than one long night to be sure, but please don't give up. Are you using D8Bridge v1.1? What DAW are you using? What OS is on your host machine? Is your USB/Serial converter cable fully compatible with your OS (i.e., guaranteed to work)? Are you using the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version of D8Bridge (don't use the 64-bit version)? What's the sequence you're using to get D8Bridge, the d8b and your DAW going and to get the console mapped in your DAW? Which virtual MIDI port software are you using? Are you sure you have only one instance of the D8Bridge exe running (this can be a killer)? Are you sure you're using the config.d8b file you think you're using (this one might also surprise you)? How do you have the MIDI ports assigned in your virtual MIDI port software (yet another big deal)? How do you have the MIDI ports assigned in your DAW? There are lots of moving parts here...

System Error 43 may be irrelevant, by the way, for the purposes of running D8Bridge. Have you tried booting the d8b normally first to see if things operate as they should?

I learned a number of things the hard way but I also got some great help form the forum here. Give us some details and maybe we can help. Once D8Bridge is up and running and integrated with your DAW, you won't look back.

Hi. Thanks for the response.
It's funny I've experienced many of the things you've listed as well. Lol. I know what you mean on some.
Marc emailed me back to check my serial USB setup in the computer. I fixed that tonight and now I'm 1 step closer.
I'm using Cubase7 64bit , D8Bridge 64. and so Midiloop. Cubase is being recognized now on my D8b screen as well. I'm left with a midi 0 message across the screen after the DAW is Init. One time I had Pan LR , and below it I had Mono 1, Mono 2 , 3,4 - across the screen - but was unable to scroll with the arrows or make any buttons react. If I shut off my DAW , the D8b message says "nice rockin with you". Bye bye. ( I think if I remember correctly )
The LED test doesn't work , no buttons function on the D8b ?
I've messed with every configuration I could dream up for Midiloop. I made 6 ports. On Bridge - Midiloop port 1 in , 2 out , 3 in , 4 out , 5 in 6 out. In Cubase Midiloop 6,5,4,3,2 ,1. I get green lights beside all 3 columns. This is where I quit tonight.

@farmac

I and some others on here never got the 64 bit version of the program to work properly. I actually don't know if anybody has gotten the 64 bit version to work. Marc even posted that it doesn't work properly, although he doesn't understand exactly why. The 64 bit version was included in the 1.1 distribution because it was requested by a customer, but I think if it doesn't work it should be pulled from the 1.1 distribution package. I run Windows 7 x64 and was trying to get going using the 64 bit version of D8Bridge for a *long* time (never considered the 32 bit application for many, many days) until another user said he could never get it to work. So I switched to the 32 bit version, d8bridge.exe, and most of my problems disappeared the instant I booted the 32 bit version. My LED test never worked either (along with a bunch of other stuff) until I switched to the 32 bit d8bridge.exe. If you haven't tried it yet I highly recommend you ditch the 64 bit executable and try the 32 bit version instead. There are no issues I am aware of running the 32 bit D8Bridge on a 64 bit OS. Please keep us posted.

@bitSync

Thanks. That's odd. I know Marc has "leaned" toward the 32 bit version ( because of using Midiyoke vs Midiloop ) , but I don't recall any mention of the 64 bit version of D8Bridge not working.

I'll let you know if I can make any progress.

@farmac

The Midiyoke (exclusively 32 bit) vs. LoopMidi (or LoopBE30, what I'm using) thing has to do with the OS being 32 bit or 64 bit, not the D8Bridge application being 32 bit or 64 bit. That one messed me up for a while too.

Here's Marc's post about the D8Bridge 64 bit executable -

http://www.d8bforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=689&start=10#p5378

You can also back up a few posts in the thread to get an idea of what was going on.

Honestly, boot the 32 bit D8Bridge executable later and let us know what happens. Good luck.
