Completely frozen mouse and keyboard cant shut down

Postby Element11 » Sun Mar 10, 2013 3:38 am

Hello Everyone,

I am a new user of the Mackie d8B and I just recently purchased the board so I dont know allot.

Details of the board and set up:
The d8b has ver 5.1 and it has no Mfx/ Ufx cards, no word clock. I just purchased an Apogee Word Clock on Ebay should be here sometime next week. I want to use the d8b to record and hopefully mix too. I plan to use a Motu 2408 ADAT lightpipe to a windows computer running PT10 and back into the board for palyback. Hope this works.

My big problem: I did all the connections to turn the mixer on. I was getting familiarized with the software and following some guidelines from a youtube video that walks through the entire console. As I was scrolling through menus and getting familiar with D (d8b) The mouse stopped moving. the cursor then turned into a clock with a still time and everything is frozen. I cant press the keys on the keyboard either. I dont want to just turn it off because the gentleman that sold it to me specifically said and showed me the proper way to turn it off. But its frozen and I am scared to just press the button. I do not want to damage D. I was wondering if there is a way to shut it down through the mixer or something. Or does anyone have a solution with experience. This thing has been on for the last 8 hrs and I am freaking out. Please help me anyone.

Sorry if i am not being understood or i left out details. Ask me and I will answer to get the best results. I am new at this.

Thanks again

Just power down with the switch on the front of the cpu/power supply unit, wait about a minute and power up again. Make sure the big round connector is fully connected (needs one extra wind to lock) and make sure the data cable is totally secure.

I am afraid that is the only and last resort I have. I dont know how many times previously this has happened. Well I will give it a shot. What is the worst that can happen? System crash, no reboot??

That method of shutting down is how we all do it. It's not a Mac.

So I turned off the whole thing by the power button and I will wait some time to turn it back on. Meanwhile I checked all the connections and everything seem to be connected except when I went to pull the ps2 mouse it is very hard to pull, almost like if you could pull both connectors out, is it normal for it to feel like that? I looked to make sure the pins are not broken. I can feel the plug pushing against the mobo.

The adaptor should feel firm when inserted but not hard to insert or remove.

Ok so I found another issue,

The original keyboard Mitsumi Model KPQ-E99YC has a bad cable connection. Does anyone have this keyboard still if so do you know the connection for the ps/2 cable to the pcb? I have looked around the forums but i dont find anything on it. Maybe someone can take a picture of it or something.

maybe I should create a new Topic post for this? Or someone just answer me here.. dont know
