freezing up again

I know this has been beat to death
my d8b is working good but it just keeps freezing up after about
half hour. I got the ribbon cables where they are not loose in anyway
I was wondering if it could be something besides the ribbon cables
for the last two times I went inside to check the ribbon cables there was
none of them loose. each time it freezes up I reboot and it will run for about
half hour and freeze again. willing to try anything just getting tired of having to
go inside the d8b this much. thanks for any help or suggestions.

Can you still move the faders when it freezes? Or are the faders blocked at any position?

I had similar issues with a desk. After about half an hour the meters froze and the faders were blocked at top position.
And the top of the desk above the faderboards became rather hot.

After I changed the conceirning fader boards ( 1-8 and 9-16) the faders were working again and the freezing stopped too.

Maybe remove the ribbons of the fader boards and see if it's still freezing after some time. If it works fine, the problem could be the fader boards.

tom yes I can move my faders after it freezes up
I can bump the d8b and it will boot back up and run for
about a half hour then freeze up again. then ribbon cables are not loose
I remember when I had this problem and the cables would be loose
there not loose anymore. so I was thinking it could be something else

Crash I just changed the two sticks of ram about a month ago
could one of them be bad. how can I tell if there bad.

I don't know of a way to test them without just trying the different combinations of sticks you have and see if things get better.

doe's it matter if there side by side or can I skip
the middle and put one on each end.

I can't remember, my memory tells me it shouldn't matter but my memory is sort of fuzzy on the matter.

if this is not my problem I don't know what to do.
I would try what tom said if my faders was sticking but there not.
I just hope someone can help me with this because I am lost since my
ribbon cables are not loose as before when it would freeze up. the channel
faders are not sticking but what ever is playing when it freezes the channel meters will freeze
wherever there at at the time.

Hi, Joe

Generally speaking, the time delay prior to the board freezing indicates a heat related problem. Expansion and contraction, if you will. Although the ribbon cables may seem tight, it's still possible that as the board heats up, one or two contacts may be lost. I'd pay particular attention to this post in the database. Not just the cable specifically mentioned in that post but also the other cables that run from the power distribution board to elsewhere. Both ends.

all way's good to hear from you

the power distribution was the one's I was
saying that was not loose all three of them the little one
the bigger one and the biggest one are all tight. I put the owen corning
that was in the data base on them and they have been tight ever since
so it could be some other cables that's worked loose so I will check all that I can
its all way's good to get your input
