Old HUI controller conversion ?

Postby sturoc » Sat May 04, 2013 4:45 am

Does the D8B use the same HUI protocol as the old Mackie HUI ?
Asking because I have an HUI, Love the layout design, meter bridge etc.
It seems like the stumped brother of a d8b.
After reading a bit about the HUI conversion process software for the d8b...
Wondering if this will work for my HUI ? In order to control some DAW software that does not have the HUI option.

Thanks

You can choose to use HUI mode on the d8b or not. It's only available with OS version 5.1. For stuff that doesn't recognise HUI mode, you can use midi mapping which is pretty comprehensive. Some people have some minor issues with that as a concept but I've found it to be more than adequate. YMMV.

Not sure if I've answered your question but anything in terms of software for the d8b will not work in your HUI.

In the scheme of things, there isn't one... just chaos.

Thanks Peter,
Well you answered as for the d8b. I came to the forum thru a link about converting HUI protocol to MCU and the software these guys made looked it worked well judging from the posts etc.

So if works well for the d8b I wonder if it would also work for the old Mackie HUI controller ?
This question is prompted by the fact that some DAW software does not offer HUI as a control format, i.e. Sonar X1, etc.
