I have experimented with with MIDI mapping and decided its not for me as I use the Analogue, Tape I/O and FX Banks and mapping them would mess with my other workflow.

Tried the Group/MIDI Bank but after swearing at the screen after a while realised you cannot map Solo or Pans!

Tyler did you just map faders for the 4th Layer (Groups, MIDI, Busses) or did you find a way to map Solos and Pans?

I will probably stick with the HUI as I also cold not get Mutes to work without 2 clicks each time plus there are many extra functions tricky to emulate like Sends, Inserts that are already working in HUI.

Personally for me the trade off of having to use Banks in HUI to address more than 8 channels is worth it against the other gripes with MIDI Mapping. Logic seems to play pretty nicely with HUI and I have found you can edit the assignments in Logic if you want to customise how they work.

Pans can be mapped out but the solos were triky as mackie never wrote them in to the midi script but by doin some modifications to the os I now have the following feateres working on every channel....Fader, Mute (fixed the two click :) ) solo, select, pan (and yes it goes to zero) asign, and rec/rdy... also in the master section i have things like aux's mapped out... the smpte timecode working... all the transport controls... and asign busses

I don't suppose you would be prepared to detail what these modifications were and how to do them plus how to get round the 2 click Mutes? (or better still attach the modified system files/MIDI Maps) See the only bank I would want to use would be the Group/MIDI/Bus layer but currently its useless.

I am a pretty savvy computer user but programming's not my thing and I am useless on PCs/Unix etc as I have always been a Mac User (and since it went Unix have never fiddled with the OS).

Please?!?

yep as am i a love love love mac (notice im using logic and protools) but my friend has some amazing knloage on developing and webdesign so last week me and him went at it on the mackie os and added in the midi command for solo into the mackie real time os system files... I am working on all of this and I am thinking about selling a $30.00 midi map and logic d8b map so that everyone can do this... it will be a self installer so it will put the files into your system and place thr midi map on your system and then the disk two will be for logic

Habba! Tyler8wb, you're amazing!

I, on the other hand, have close to zero knowledge about midi-maping, and wouldn't make it if it saved my soul. But as long as I'm a Samplitude user, I guess this never will be a feature I can use, or what?
