If all you're wanting to do is capture the raw files and import them into Your DAW of choice after the fact, go with the SDR. It has both analog and digital in & outs as standard and you can pull the hard drive bay to connect with your computer to pull files off. There is no GUI on it, meaning you cant hook up a monitor and a mouse and work it like a DAW. If you want that control then you need to get the HDR but make sure you get the one with the cards you need as it doesn't come stock with in & outs built in. It uses the same cards as the d8b. the MDR is an HDR with out the GUI. I have used all 3 and they've all worked great for the scenario they were in.
That explanations a bit all over the place, but it's late and i'm tired.

If you look under the discontinued portion of the mackie website they have info on all of these. Or do a google search for a brochure or something.
