woops accidentally hit post well I have some free time tomorrow and my friend is coming over so I plan on making a video with us working in the studio and I will show you the master bank working :) I know it is hard to believe that it is working but just like with the other guy that got his d8b to work with out the cpu and he accessed it directly anything is possible with knowledge of computer programming. and I have decided to start my self installer project and give it out for free (peter: maybe we could make a download link on the forum :) )

I've brought the family along for the screening. The previews and promos are nearly finished. I'm just gonna pop out and grab some more sodas and popcorn. Don't start The Ballad Of Bank Four without me.

Seriously Tyler, how do you modify the OS from within the d8b? I think our terminology is at crossed purposes here.

Regarding your crashing, just re-install the legit OS.

Hmm not so sure I won't stick with HUI then as don't fancy screwing up my OS install! Its just a shame you cannot fully use Bank 4 as I am using 1-3 for D8B functions. Is there really no way to circumvent this?

The only way I can think of is to save a snapshot, say, 00 that is your midi control template and each time you want to use that, save your board's status in terms of audio use to another snapshot location and switch between the two. Bank 4 is just too limited.

I guess all this has just gone away.

I do not disbelieve he managed to hack it to work, its possible the hacks screwed the system although its also possible another hack is what did for the OS. Its quite feasible that the MIDI functionality could be re-enabled for bank 4, the buttons themselves are after all the same buttons for each bank.

I am thinking what I might try is to use Bank 4 for fader control only as a plan B on mixdown in conjunction with the HUI to allow quick access to 24 channels of levels. However I am going to study the HUI controls in Logic's controller assignments to see if they can be set up to switch banks like in HUI.

What I am also thinking is to create several screensets of the Mixer window in Logic each with the mixer view filtered to show just say Audio or Soft Insruments or Auxes, so with the press of a number on my Mac keyboard I could switch views in HUI quickly to address specific channel types.
