D8B Computer missing

Postby studio168 » Fri Aug 15, 2014 2:26 pm

Hi Everybody ! :)
I'm new here, and i come from france, glad to find on this forum an active community around the D8B console.

I just put my hands on a D8b i found in the new studio cellar i rent in Paris
Unfortunately, the computer is missing.

I looked hard for a computer or at least a power supply for the D8B but nothing came.

Is there anybody having an idea of where (on internet or in store) i can find a D8B CPU/PSU for sale !
Running 3.0 or 5.1 doesnt matter coz it seems that it's possible to upgrade (no ? )
I'm ready to order from USA or other country of course ;)

Thanks Everydbody

PS : I tested the D8B with a friends CPU/PSU running 3.0 and the console work fine :p

Bonjour Ami -

You may want to check the d8b database section in this forum and it list the specs of the CPU/power supply. You can then try to locate those parts on ebay and build it yourself. That maybe more expensive than just buying a complete used system off ebay.

Also every once in a while a CPU/PSU unit shows up on ebay for sale.

Hi !
Thanks for the reply
I'm actually close to 0 in technical knowledge of PSu and CPUs lol
A friend of me here in france, said he can build me from scratch a PSU for my D8B but he ask me 500€ / 670$
Dunno if it's fair or not.
Is there any other PSU from other mackie mixer that can be hacked to fit the D8B voltages ? My friend told me it need +16 - 16 48 and 5 v to work.
I saw the Mackie 8buss PSU deliver +18 - 18 48 and 5v .
Could it be a good way to look at these ? Modify it ?

I also think about selling the D8B and buying one with the complete Unit ahah
But CPU/PSU are like ghost on internet, you know it exist but can never buy one

Any links about these PSU parts i might need ?

Thanks

Hi

I bought a d8b console without Psu/CPU.
Build my own powersupplies without 48V
(i dont need the Mic preamps) as i use it as controller
For my probox with cubase.
So 5V 20ampere Power supply
12V 8A powersupply
And +/- 16V. 1,3A power supply

Material costs 90 Euros
3 hours work

Best regards

Hey
Thanks ralph for the answer and infos about voltages.
I think it's not gonna be possible for me as I don't know how to proceed to build such a thing lol and the connector behind the Mackie seems strange.
I'm not gonna ask you a PDF tutorial coz I know you work hard on probox. And I know I'm on the list for this probox lol ;)

Looks that I'm gonna watch YouTube tutorials about power supplies ;)
And try to find some cool guys to give a hand here in the city of lights ;)

Peace
